Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization

Topic A: Protecting the Political Rights of Ethnic Minority Groups

Topic B: Guaranteeing the Rights to Self Determination

The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization is a platform where voices typically absent from international bodies are able to express their positions. This committee will largely focus on how delegates can propel this body to a place of greater importance in the international community, and provide concrete action to guarantee the adequate representation of minority groups. Delegates will be representing peoples and groups accustomed to being left unheard, unnoticed, and ignored on the world stage, rather than fully-fledged independent countries with power and global recognition as they attempt to navigate how to secure their rights as a separate people within a recognized country or securing the right to become their own nation. Ultimately, the gauge for success in this committee will depend on solutions that make the presence of these unrepresented peoples undeniable in the world stage and how much closer they will be to their former fellow UNPO nations who achieved UN recognition.
